Get Excited!
Some time ago I visited the prison in Malden, Missouri, I was accompanied by a couple from the church were I was preaching a week long revival. A quiet, gentle couple who have participated in Prison Fellowship for four years.
We made our way to the chapel where about thirty Christian men, including two from death row, were waiting to worship and listen to me preach.
The prisoners were buzzing before the service about several prospects they had invited who were in attendance. The Christian men sang with fervor about God's amazing grace.
A Dog life?
I live with three inside dogs, two inside cats, four outside cats, one goat, two chickens, one horse a
pony; and my lovely wife. That’s my family. Yes our kids have grown up and have there own families.
With all this as background I call to your attention: “Cat and dog Theology.” It’s based on an old joke about the fundamental differences between cats and dogs that goes a little something like this:
A dog thinks, “you pet me, you feed me, you shelter me, you love me. You must be God.” A cat thinks, “you pet me, you feed me, you shelter me, you love me. I must be God.”
Most Christians have at least some cat--like tendencies when it comes to living out their faith, exhibited by an “it’s all about me” attitude, and the study seeks to expose those leanings.
Christianity faces possible Extinction?
Look at world news, and there is reason for concern.
According to Open Doors, an international Christian ministry that supports and strengthens persecuted Christians, the number of Christians being persecuted for their faith around the world is at a record high.
Approximately 100 million Christians face imprisonment, torture, rape. and even death. More than 320 are killed per month.
The Holy Spirit Comforters
Jesus promised he would send the Holy Spirit to be a counselor and a comforter (John 14:16-18). Just how does the Holy Spirit comfort Christians?
He comforts by his presence.
